I was going to go on an exchange trip to Japan starting this April, but I didn't manage to get into the program. However, one of my mom's friends lived in Japan for7 years, and he said one of his friends would be willing to take me in as an "exchange student." It wouldn't be a formal arrangement going through one of those programs, but it would still be the same concept. The thing is, because school already started over there, I wouldn't be able to go until the start of their second term - in September. Then I could stay for the rest of the school year (second & third term). This is a kinda perfect setup, because school here starts in September and whatnot, but I'm a bit worried... The reason I'm rushing to go this year is because my birthday is in February, and I'm 17 years old. Because my birthday is before April, I would be going into the last year of High School in Japan. And when I talked to one of these ladies that worked at an exchange program place, she told me Japan doesn't accept students past High School age. So I wouldn't be able to go NEXT April, because I'd be too old. So this year's my last shot for High School. But would the Japanese School System take me in partway through the year? And just how complicated is the arrangement for a student to get into the actual system so I could enroll in the school? Thanks in advance!

It's possible to join a high school in September in Japan. But you need to take an entrance exam and pass it. The exam will be all in Japanese. Do you think you can pass it? >she told me Japan doesn't accept students past High School age. This is false. You can join a high school even if you are over 18. >And just how complicated is the arrangement for a student to get into the actual system so I could enroll in the school? Choose a school, apply for it, take the exam.
